New York Alcoholic Anxiety Attack (NYAAA) were formed in 2004 out of the remnants of the other bands Mik Davis, Tom Bairstow and Matt Graham served their apprenticeships in, and though they're still only 23, 22 and 21 respectively they've played the gigs - over 230 in the last 2 & a half years - and put in time on the road that even major bands couldn't aspire to - and they continue to do so.
They have supported such famous names as The Only Ones, Stiff Little Fingers, The Stranglers, Spear Of Destiny, The Undertones & New Model Army - legendary outfits other bands name as influences. NYAAA's musicianship and creativity, plus their incredibly accomplished and energetic live shows, have resulted in a dedicated international following and a travelling UK following - what do they sound like - 'Altrock' is the nearest description of this melodic, powerful rock music. Their first EPs - 'Dismorphia' and 'Jeanne' shipped over 1,500 copies globally with no publicity other than through this website and their Myspace page. Their debut album, 'The Man With Four Tears' was snapped up by respected indie labels Rebco Records (London) & Devil Doll Records (California) and will be released on July 7th 2008 - it's already up for download on iTunes. When you hear the album, the tracks, you'll understand why so many respected names - musicians, crew and production people - in the music industry support and help NYAAA - it's the kind of genuine, original and authentic rock music that sends shivers through you and puts the hairs up on the back of your neck because it reminds you, deep in your spirit, of what made you love rock n' roll in the first place; that first blinding revelation when you heard the great shout that turned you into a music fan, and not someone who gets off watching darts tournaments on the telly. But you probably hear or read blurb like this all the time, don't you? Someone banging on about this great new cool band, that fabulous new singer-songwriter, all super, all wonderful, all trumpeted by the music press and the media as being The Next Big Thing. NYAAA aren't The Next BigThing. They're not a fashion or a fad. They have the potential for both longevity and true artistic vision. They're the band you never forget, the gig that you remember for the rest of your life, the one you tell your kids about when they ask what music was like in your day and that makes them in their turn go to see this great band. NYAAA will be with you when you laugh, when you cry, when you're angry, when you're in love, when you grieve. That's because like you, they love music, they are music, they live, breathe and make music 24/7. They're the real deal. |
